Peplum and Plaid Perfection

Hi friends! I’m back in CA, and I’ve got all the things to do today. Mother Hubbards cupboard is bare…well, at least the fridge is. HA! I did have this post mostly ready so I could share this peplum and plaid perfection with you today for our Style Six linkup.

I’d say if there are two things y’all already know about me it’s that I love a peplum, and I love plaid, so when you combine them you get peplum and plaid perfection. Say that 10X fast. HA!

I think a peplum is so flattering on many body types, and a peplum accompanied by smocking works really well on slightly pear shaped bodies. A pear shape is typically smaller through the midsection, so the fitted bodice accentuates that, while allowing for a little flow where you become wider at the hips.

I also really love the square neckline. Another feature that is on trend and flattering. You might even be able to pull this off the shoulders for a little less sweet and a little more sassy.

I chose to pair it with white jeans for a super crisp spring look, but it would go great with regular light denim or even a pair of cut off denim shorts. I think the raw hem on a pair of shorts would be a great balance to the frillier feel of the top.

As far as shoes go, a nude heel or flat is always a great option with white denim. Most every day in the spring and summer you’ll find me in a neutral shoe. They go with everything making dressing easy.
